California's UC and CSU systems will not consider standardized test results (e.g., SAT & ACT) when making admission decisions.

CSU Announcement

SAT & ACT

The SAT and ACT are recognized college admission tests that let you show some colleges what you know and how well you can apply that knowledge.

Some private and out of state colleges may still require the SAT or the ACT, but most private and out of state colleges are test optional. Test optional colleges typically do not require you take these tests, but will consider the scores if you do well. Please do your own research on private and out of state colleges, so you know what to prepare for.

Both UCs and CSUs will not review your SAT or ACT scores no matter how well you do. You will not need to take these tests if you are planning to attend a California Community College, CSU, or UC.

Click on the links to COLLEGE BOARD or ACT to get more information and register if interested. Be sure to pick 4 colleges to send your scores PRIOR to testing for FREE if you decide to take either one of these tests.
