Think of looking for scholarships as having a part-time job.  Juniors and seniors might spend an hour a day or half a day on weekends conducting searches and putting together applications.

Where to Find Scholarships?   (You have to ask)

  • Local and regional organizations
  • Parent’s work
  • Student’s work
  • Religious, service, cultural organizations
  • Family
  • Online

On the internet?  (You have to search)

Scholarship Directories (you complete a profile and enter your email address)

Search Engines. In the “search” box, type: Scholarship, _____________________.  On the line, insert one at a time, all the things that describe you, the student – interests, background, family, heritage, religion, activities, course of study, hobbies, anything unusual such as a disability in the family, tall, etc…

 What to Submit? (You need to Stand Out)

  •  All requirements stated on the scholarship application.  Be sure to read the application. 

Typical requests include, but are not limited to:

  • completed application form (typed preferably)
  • Essay
  • Letters of Recommendation
  • Transcript
