IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STEAM
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Franklin High School offers pathways and academy programs open to incoming 9th-grade students. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) offers a “school within a school” program that allows students to explore a variety of technical fields based on industry standards while fulfilling the requirements for graduation. Franklin High School’s STEAM offers the following pathways and academy programs:
- Computer Science
- Engineering Design
- Engineering Technology (includes Robotics)
- Design Arts (Graphic Design)
- Digital Media (Filmmaking/Broadcasting)
- Animation
To complete the STEAM program and receive a cord for graduation, students must:
- Complete 4 designated courses (40 credits) for selected pathway above (see attachment)
- Fulfill the Franklin High School Community Service requirement at each grade level
- Participate in STEAM activities (college/career field trips, competitions, internships, etc.)
- Maintain good standing in STEAM according to the STEAM contract.
For 8th-grade students and parents who currently reside in the Franklin High School attendance boundaries and are interested in applying to STEAM for the 2021-2022 school year, please click here to watch a presentation about our STEAM program. The presentation will review program requirements, introduce you to our STEAM teachers and give you a tour of their classrooms
To apply for the STEAM program, please click here to complete the online application. You can also find the link on the Franklin website under “Programs” then “STEAM”. Students who submit an online application will have priority for admittance. Acceptance emails will be emailed before January 25.
